Maryam and Marjan Malakpour have designed shoes you can actually walk a day in.
The two sisters founded Newbark when they realized a need for a versatile wearable shoe. The shoe that started it all may seem familiar in that it blends a compressible ballet flat with a Moroccan inspired slipper.
Their success began in 1997 when they styled the Rolling Stones for their Bridges to Babylon Tour. From there the styling projects snowballed to include other celebrities, musicians, movie stars and supermodels.
All of this work and literally being run off their feet was what gave the sisters the inspiration for their first shoe. Now so much more than simply a shoe company, Newbark produces luxury leather pieces ranging from bags to footwear styles including booties, fur slides, patent leather loafers and high heeled wedge mules. All pieces are handmade in LA where Newbark is based.
