You heard us. Pre Fall.
One of the great things about this collection is the botanical print - it may be part of the autumn line-up but the flowers are delightfully spring-y. In fact Boticelli's La Primavera served as inspiration to the season's collaborative textile designer Celia Birtwell and her bespoke print titled; Enchanted Forest.
A fashion pioneer in the 60's and 70's Celia Birtwell partnered professionally and romantically with designer Ossie Clark. Together they shaped the bohemian style of the day. A style that in 2015 is seeing a welcome resurgence.
As well as the delicate floral, Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli drew on the creativity of Italian Pop-Artist; Giosetta Fioroni. Embroidered, gilded and knitted hearts occasionally scribbled with the phrase ". . . your eyes are the eyes of a woman in love" (appropriated from the 1955 film Guys and Dolls) is splashed across dresses, encrusted on handbags and emblazoned on sweaters - the summer (autumn) of love theme is most literal.
Between Fioroni's pop-art influence and Birtwell's collaboration, Valentino's Pre Fall 2015 collection is a nostalgic breath of fresh air and is the perfect transition for that time between late summer and when the leaves start to change.
Peace, love and fashion.
