In celebration of George Michael's 51st birthday, reminisce by watching one of his infamous supermodel laden videos. The tune is catchy the styling is outrageous and there was a cliff-hanger ending.
Of course back in the early 90's we didn't have the accessibility of the mighty internet. Today however with a bit of searching it's simple to find out who the mystery director was. No, not the not-so-subtly edited George Michael. If you knew your designers and were up to date with your fashion periodicals of the time, the answer would come as no surprise: Thierry Mugler. The designer not only created the costumes he directed the original video - and after 20 years (in 2013) Mugler's "director's cut" surfaced. Next to the official version the undiscovered Too Funky still has the wild fashion and fanfare but is a bit more edgy. It generally has more of a plot and includes male models as well as the familiar female faces.
Take a look for yourself. Both videos are here for your enjoyment and comparison.
