May Day

It’s the first Monday in May - and we all know what that means. Not only is there a spectacular philanthropic-focused celebration - choc-a-block with fashion’s elite but once all the bubbles have run out and the heels have come off, there will be an equally spectacular exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art showcasing 2017’s theme.

Every few years the Costume Institute shines a spotlight on the achievement of a single designer. Yves Saint Laurent, Gianni Versace and Alexander McQueen have been honoured in the past. This year the honour goes to Rei Kawakubo & Comme des Garçons - Art and the In-Between.

The line between fashion and art has always been debated. Tonight it disappeared as equal parts avant-garde and classic posed on the red carpet. Amongst the diversity the common thread is the fun the invitees have had interpreting their looks for the occasion.

We were thrilled to see so many of our favorite designers represented.

MET GALA - Manus x Machina

Fashion in an Age of Technology was the evening's theme. The fashion-based interpretations were literal, subtle and always entertaining.

Several of Boboli's favorite designers hit the red carpet. Valentino and Giambattista Valli were among the attendee's top choices. However, possibly our favorite look of the evening was Allison Williams in Peter Pilotto.

Below are the best looks of the evening . . . in our opinion.

Over the years the Met Gala has become increasingly anticipated. With strategic entrances and barely there fashions, this yearly Ball promises to be everything the Oscars are not. The fashion is bold and theme based, imaginations and designers run wild.

The Gala benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute and has been going on since the 60's. The extravagant and legendary Ball launches the current fashion exhibition; China: Through the Looking Glass. Attendees and invitees are encouraged to follow the exhibit's theme by dressing accordingly.

This year some of our favorite Boboli designers made appearances on the red carpet. In fact, from ruby to scarlet, red was the overwhelming color choice for the evening. Styles and hues varied, but all the fashions of the night  were striking.
